Hi Central Section Members!
I hope you have all had a very safe and very busy Spring! Activities here in Arizona have been plentiful! All of our LPGA tours were in Phoenix in March. We had the Symetra Tour at Longbow in Mesa. Followed by that we had the Women’s LPGA Senior Tour in competing in Sun City West at the Walgreens Championship. We capped off our month with The LPGA’s superstars of today playing at Wildfire Golf Club in Scottsdale. During the LPGA event we had multiple events going on including two Meet and Greets that were very successful. We had the very first ever LPGA/USGA Girls Rock Golf Clinic. The Clinic was on Sunday preceding the tournament and was titled “Girls on The Run and First Swing Golf Clinic”. All the girls ran a mile first and then most swung a club for the very first time. Thank you to Amy Fruhwirth, Anne Marie Palli, Lisa Grimes, Sandy LaBauve, Sue Wieger, Pam Wright, and Courtney Mahon for making it such a great success. All the kids loved it and two of the girls started taking lessons after the clinic. Grow the Game!
We then had numerous Lesson Zone volunteer instructors during the event. With another junior clinic on Saturday of the tournament. What a week!! Very successful! Thank you to the LPGA staff for all your amazing work in putting these clinics and lessons together for us to be a part of. We have a great group of ladies and you are all so talented. Thank you for your time and efforts to help grow the game and our section!
Look forward to seeing many of you at more meet and greets, the National Pro Am and Stroke Play in Vegas on May 3-5th.
