We asked you to tell us in pictures what makes golf such a great sport for women and girls, and boy, did you respond. Over 700 images were posted to Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #GolfForHer, and 20 were chosen as finalists.
Some 52,000 people interacted with our Facebook album of finalists for the #GolfForHer photo contest, and more than 4,000 of you voted. Our winning image (above), posted by Kristie Griggs from Ocala, Fla., to Instagram and Twitter, shows just how playful golf can be, and resonated so much with our readers and followers that it garnered 926 votes, double that of any other image.
“In the photo is my ten year old daughter, Megan,” Griggs explained via e-mail after being notified of her win. “Not only does she love to play golf, but she loves taking acro classes at a local dance studio here in Ocala, FL. She is very good at walking on her hands and does it all the time at home, and on the golf course while pushing her cart. So a couple of months ago I had my camera out while she was playing a practice round with her sister and dad and caught that moment while they were on the first hole.”
Griggs will take home a full set of Ping Rhapsody woods, hybrids and irons with matching bag.
