I would like to congratulate our “Of the Year” award recipients for 2015. Teacher of the Year: Sue Wieger; Professional of the Year: Kristie Fowler; Coach of the Year: Kimberly Self; and Junior Golf Leader of the Year: Sally Krystyn. You are all outstanding golf professionals, and I know I speak for our entire Section when I say congratulations, and well done! I also congratulate all the nominees for these prestigious awards. The golf professionals in our organization work hard, care deeply, and create wonderfully, and you are all to be applauded for all that you do for our association and for our industry.
We have a Meet and Greet series beginning October 26 in Phoenix, Arizona. Your hard-working and creative Central Section Education Committee is rolling out the first of three events that are not to be missed! Sandy LaBauve and Courtney Mahon, along with special guest Martin Chuck, will lead the first program, “Training Aids: What’s New and What They Do.” We are getting a big response to this invitation, and remind you to RSVP if you plan to attend.
We are hopeful that this program, and others like it, will serve as a model for events throughout the Section. We are committed to providing low-cost, low-travel events for our members to supplement the ongoing education offered throughout the year at large events like our Teaching and Coaching Summit in San Antonio. Watch your email for more information on the following two programs coming soon!
By the time you read this, the National Elections will have taken place. Thank you to all who voted in our organization’s election process. Voting is the very most basic and sacred privilege we have in our country, and in our organization. Voting ensures that your voice is heard as our association moves forward into 2016 and beyond. Section elections will be held soon, and I encourage you to become involved by running for open offices. Being a Section officer is a wonderful opportunity to give back, and to help create new and innovative ways to reach out to and serve your fellow golf professionals. On behalf of all your Section officers, I thank you for the opportunity to serve.
President, LPGA Central Section
