Rita Reasons Receives Goldie Bateson Service Award

Rita Reasons HeadshotGoldie Bateson was an active member of the LPGA and the first President of the Midwest Section. She was one of the original T&CP members who helped to provide the structure for our organization by developing the Constitution and By-Laws, the testing of teachers, establishing the different sections, and everything else to get the T&CP started.

The Goldie Bateson Service Award was established in 1992 in recognition of the unlimited and outstanding service, time and dedication demonstrated by Goldie Bateson to the LPGA Midwest Section, the LPGA, and the game of golf.

“Rita has done all this and more as a very involved LPGA T&CP Member who has given six years of service as the Midwest Section President,” said LPGA T&CP National President Deb Vangellow. “She gave freely of her time, talents, and expertise to the Midwest Section and to the entire organization as a valuable member of the Executive Committee. Thank you and congratulations to Rita Reasons!”

Rita Reasons has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Goldie Bateson Award.

Rita Reasons is co-owner of the Nancy Quarcelino School of Golf located at Gaylord Springs Golf Links in Nashville, TN. Rita is an active Class A member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals, having served numerous roles including President of the Midwest Section and a member of the Executive and Leadership Committees.

Within a career that spans over 22 years, she has been recognized as a leader and expert in her field within the golf industry. She is instrumental in the development of innovative programs designed to attract individuals to the game of golf and assist them in achieving the level of success they desire.

Rita started the first chapter of LPGA * USGA Girls Golf in Tennessee in 1994 and is still active as the Site Director and Instructor for this global initiative of the LPGA Foundation. In recognition of her service to junior golf she was awarded the LPGA Sarah Hunter Junior Achievement Award.

Throughout her career, Rita has been recognized as: LPGA National Teacher of the Year, LPGA Midwest Section Teacher of the Year, GOLF Magazine Top Regional Teacher, Golf Digest Tennessee’s Best Instructors, Golf for Women Magazine Top 50 Teacher, and US Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher. She is co-author of “Staying on Course: Mastering Golf’s Most Challenging Shots”.

On her awarding of this recognition, Rita Reasons said “It is a tremendous honor to be selected as the recipient of the Goldie Bateson Service Award. It was the professionals who came before us, like Goldie, who helped to lay the groundwork for the LPGA T&CP. Her efforts enabled us to grow as an organization and gain respect as the best trained teachers and professionals within the golf industry. As a member, I feel an obligation to all of them, to make certain that I continue that same tradition and leave things even better for the next generation to follow.”

IAm sure dear Goldie would approve of all you have accomplished to help further our game.She was my dear friend battling the obstacles of being a head pro and getting credits for her assistants in pGA joining us in our NGF seminars and helping set LPGA testing procedures Yes we did have some interesting challenges congratulations well derserving of her award
