Women in Golf Wednesday!

Younkman_Megan

Name: Megan Younkman

Where you live: St. Petersburg, Florida

Where you work & what you do: I am the Owner/Director of Instruction of MYPRO Golf School in Tampa, Florida. I also work for the LPGA Global Education Team as an Evaluator, an LPGA PTE Workshop Leader and Chair for the LPGA National Continuing Education Committee.

How long have you been an LPGA member?

I’ve been an LPGA Class A Member since 2007!

How was the process of becoming a member for you?

My process went smoothly, yet challenging.  The Education Team served as my textbook, by biggest supporter and my largest critic.  I was well prepared to teach upon completion.

What does it mean to be an LPGA member to you?

For me, being an LPGA member means that I have a power within golf’s global community to be an effective teacher, both introducing and keeping a club in the hands of many players. The LPGA makes me so proud as it continues to grow.

What is the best part about the membership for you?

The best part about the membership is being a part of a women’s organization where women support women. I know I can call any other LPGA member if I need assistance or advice.

What advice would you give someone just starting the program or thinking about starting?

I would encourage a future candidate that the LPGA provides you with a platform to succeed, supplies you with an opportunity to continue growth throughout your career and surrounds you with other successful and inspirational women in the industry.

Fun Fact: “SnowBalls to GolfBalls”. I decided to focus on golf at age 16 after spending 8 years training as a downhill mogul snow-ski racer. My knees thank me now for making the right choice!

Member Profile – Shannon Kneisler

We all get into the golf business for different reasons. We find our passion and somehow destiny takes us on a journey. Shannon Kneisler is no different but she has had some of the most unique and interesting experiences that I have heard of in a long time. Take a few minutes to meet her. Wait until you see how she is bringing caddies back to the game, and how she has been giving golf lessons all over the world!

St. Petersburg, Florida

Where you work & what you do:

Director of Instruction at Feather Sound Country Club

How long have you been an LPGA member?

2002

How was the process of becoming a member for you?

It was great!  My advisor was there to answer questions whenever I had them.  The education and schools were fun, extremely informative and have several friendships all over the US because of traveling to attend.

What does it mean to be an LPGA member to you?

It is an absolute honor to be a part of this organization!  I feel that we have made a growing impact and name in women’s sports. The LPGA maintains a “Cheers” feel where everyone knows your name throughout the membership  🙂

What is the best part about the membership for you?

Feeling like I am a part of something that matters and makes a difference.  I value the playing opportunities and continuing education as well.

What advice would you give someone just starting the program or thinking about starting?

Take advantage of all the opportunities, the knowledge of the members, and don’t be afraid to get involved.

Women in Golf Wednesday!

Name: Camille Surdi

Where you live?

St. Petersburg, Florida

Where you work & what you do?

Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf and Sports Complex

How long have you been an LPGA member?

Joined in 1987 and became Class A in 1992

How was the process of becoming a member for you?

The membership process was very rewarding. I was late to the game of golf, and my mentors at the time gave me great leadership to guide me.

What does it mean to be an LPGA member to you?

Everything! To be an accredited member of an organization that promotes a woman’s sport is a dream come true.

What is the best part about the membership for you?

The best part of membership is simply being able to use my skills as a communicator to help golfers improve and grow the game. The best part about the internal membership of the T&CP is the camaraderie and respect we have for one another.

What advice would you give someone just starting the program or thinking about starting?

I would tell them to Just Do It! The rewards they will receive from whatever career path they take using the organization will be amazing. I took a leap of faith when I joined and 30 years later I’m still going strong!

Special Thanks:

I would just like to say thank you to all the women that are not only in the T&CP, but on the Tour as well. We as women have the tools to be the best women’s sports organization worldwide! I am proud to be a part of that!
