Women in Golf Wednesday! – Kelly Cap

KellyCapName:

Kelly Cap

Where you live?

Pinehurst, NC

Where do you work & what do you do?

I am the Owner of a Fitness, Sports and Therapy Studio in Whispering Pines, NC called TriMov. One of my main specialties is Golf Fitness and Biomechanics.

How long have you been an LPGA member?

I’ve been an LPGA T&CP Member since 2008. I was a part of the LPGA Tour as a Playing Professional from 2001 – 2007.

How was the process of becoming a member for you?

When I stopped playing after the 2007 season, I began teaching at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club. It was here that I began the process of becoming a part of the T&CP Division. I still wanted to be a part of the LPGA, and I knew that the Teaching Division had such a great reputation for developing great teachers. The education process is second to none and was certainly valuable in every aspect. Going through the process took a lot of patience because there was so much to learn. I really enjoyed quality of education that was presented. The wealth of knowledge at each education seminar from the staff members to everyone I met along the way. The other thing to mention about the process is that I had a lot of support from several Class A Members at the time. Everyone was so helpful and kind. They were there for me when I had questions along the way and offered so much encouragement

What does it mean to be an LPGA member to you?

It has always been very special to be a part of the LPGA. I’m humbled to be a part  of such a group of great teachers and coaches who are so passionate about spreading the knowledge of the game, helping it grow.

What is the best part about the membership for you?

To have the chance to attend some great seminars, hear some great speakers and learn from each other. I also still enjoy being able to play in a tournament from time-to-time.

What advice would you give someone just starting the program or thinking about starting?

I would tell someone who is starting out, or thinking about it, that they are making one of the best decisions / career paths to enhance their development. And no matter which direction they wanted to take their education….teaching, managing, coaching, golf fitness, etc . . . the LPGA is one of the best. The best on how to communicate, listen treat your students as individuals, and most importantly provide a FUN environment for learning.

Additional Words of Wisdom:

I’ve followed my passion for teaching by taking it indoors and blending it with my college education in Health Sciences and Fellowship in Biomechanics from The Gray Institute and my LPGA Teaching background to better enhance the lives of my students/clients/athletes. They are able to enjoy the game of golf with greater vitality and energy and even for some pain free. Working in a Fitness / Sports and Therapy training environment has enabled me to help each of my athletes play more enjoyable rounds of golf for the long run.

I’m certainly doing what I love to do and the LPGA has been such a big part of it!
