He spoke to a room full of golf professionals who were sitting on the edge of their seats listening and learning from one of the greatest coaches of all time. If you are even somewhat familiar with Mr. Holtz, then you know that he is a man of great character. He shared with us the rules he strives to live by each and every day.
Rule #1 Do what’s right. Everyone should work hard, don’t blame others, and be accountable. You have a choice. You can only control your attitude. When Mr. Holtz was fired from Arkansas in 1983, he was bitter but he did what was right. He never said anything bad about the school. Two years later he was hired by Notre Dame with the recommendation from the AD at Arkansas who had fired him. He did what was right. Continue reading
