Penny Porter head shotWe are about halfway through the summer in central Indiana, and I hope all your programs and facilities are having a successful year so far! I am excited that I have finally started a LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Chapter. When I was thinking about starting a chapter, I had great support from my fellow Section Officers. If you are thinking starting a chapter, go ahead and start.  You will be so thankful you did. Please call a fellow member if you have any questions. Each one of us is a network for our section, so reach out and ask for some input from a fellow member.

Letter from the Central Section Vice President – Peggy Gustafson

Peggy GustafsonThe Marilynn Smith 7th Annual Scholarship Tournament will be played on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Pebblecreek CC in Goodyear, Az. LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez will be this years’ Honoree Chairperson.  This event was begun by LPGA Founder Marilynn Smith in Dallas, Texas and has continued on in Arizona where Ms. Smith now resides.  The Marilynn Smith Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who will be playing golf at the collegiate level. Twenty $5,000 scholarships were awarded in 2014 to the most highly qualified candidates.
