DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., October 2, 2017 – Marci Bozarth, an assistant golf professional at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, is the 2017 recipient of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) Central Section Marilynn Smith Service Award.
This prestigious award is given to the Central Section member who best exemplifies Marilynn Smith’s renowned spirit of giving and generosity. Previous honorees were Penny Zavichas, Peggy Gustafson, Marvol Barnard, Tina Tombs, and Kristie Fowler.
Bozarth currently serves as an assistant golf professional at Golf Club of Houston where she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of two 18-hole courses, one public and the other private. She is also an instructor at the on-site Mike McGetrick Golf Academy.
An LPGA Class A member since 1998, Bozarth conducts more than 145 golf events each year for various charities and companies on the public Tournament Course at Golf Club of Houston while she also organizes and manages more than 20 member golf events there annually. Bozarth served two terms as Central Section Vice-President from 2008-2011 and two terms as Central Section Secretary from 2004-2007.
“I am humbled and honored to even be nominated for such an award!” said Bozarth, who was LPGA Central Section ‘Professional of the Year’ in 2004, 2005 and 2013. “I do what I do out of my passion for the game of golf, and I don’t think twice about it. I work long hours and long weeks, as many of us do, because I love it. I have always approached my work with a servant’s heart, and I always do my best to find a way to say: ‘Yes—I can do that for you!’”
Congratulations, Marci Bozarth!
The Marilynn Smith Service Award was established in 2012 by the Central Section in recognition of the unlimited and outstanding service, time, and dedication demonstrated by Marilynn to the LPGA Central Section, the LPGA and the game of golf.
