Meet Connie Cramer Caouette

Meet Connie Cramer Caouette – By Kristie Fowler & Connie Cramer Caouette

As an LPGA Member for over 30 years, Connie Cramer Caouette has worked long and hard in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, Montana! Although time has gone by like the blink of an eye, she has so many vivid memories and shares with us a few of those moments. Not only has she learned to manage two 18-hole golf facilities…. staffing, teaching, budgeting….she has also had the challenge of learning to manage the “Wildlife” as nature meets the golfing public. Ladies, please meet Connie Cramer Caouette.

LPGA Founder Shirley Spork Still Teaching

Originally published on http://www.cantonrep.com/ by Jim Thomas, June 6, 2016.

Shirley Spork is a certified, living legend. The 89-year-old Spork is one of the 13 women who founded the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour in 1950. She is in a new movie “The Founders” about those pioneering females who changed sports forever.

Sunday and Monday, Spork came to Clearview Golf Club to pay tribute to another pioneer, the first African-American man to design, construct and own a professional golf course, William Powell, and his family. Spork spoke at Sunday evening’s Clearview Legacy Foundation dinner and then spent Monday offering putting advice to all who were playing in the Pro-Am outing.

Founders Cup Meet and Greet

By Marvol Barnard, Central Section President

A wonderful time was had by all at the Central Section Meet and Greet held recently during the LPGA Tour Founders Cup in Phoenix, Arizona.  Members from Florida, Arizona, and California met in the Pioneer Pavilion to enjoy drinks and appetizers while networking and visiting with one another.  We were honored to have LPGA Founder and Western Section T&CP member Shirley Spork join us during the event, and share information about her upcoming  charity Pro-Am in California at Palm Valley Country Club.  Other members present were Peggy Gustafson, Sue Wieger, Lynn Marriott, Pia Nillson, Gwen Checho, Kiernan Schindler, Ashley Moss, Marvol Barnard, Le Ann Finger, and other members from several sections around the country.

A surprise special guest was noted teacher Mike Malaska, who dropped by to say hello and share ideas with our members.  All told, we had about 15 LPGA members in attendance, and a great time was had by all!
